At the moment, our country and our nation are comprehensively preparing for the significant day of the 30th anniversary of independence, and we believe that each citizen should contribute to the development of society and his country.
State independence is a new stage in the history of the Tajik people. On September 9th, 1991, a historically significant day happened, when the new Tajik statehood was revived. A new stage has opened for us Tajiks – sovereign Tajikistan.
For 30 years, the diligence and work of the Tajik people for the assertion of national independence have borne fruit in the development and implementation of a number of important socio-economic progress and reforms in various areas of the country’s life.
State Independence Day is a day of pride and glory for the people of Tajikistan, which has an ancient culture.
On August 24th, 1990, at the second session of the Supreme Soviet of the Tajik SSR, the Declaration “On the sovereignty of the Tajik SSR” was adopted. But this sovereignty was declared back in the Soviet Union. Despite this, the Declaration was the first document that foreshadowed the path to the real independence of Tajikistan.
On September 9, 1991, at the session of the Shur oi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan (the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan), a Resolution and a Statement “On the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan” were adopted.
The achievement of state independence of the Republic of Tajikistan has become an important historical event for the Tajik people.
It is worth emphasizing that during the years of independence, cardinal changes have taken place in our republic. For 30 years, we have laid the foundation for our new prosperous country; in fact, our republic has become politically independent and recognized as a full-fledged international entity.
The legal basis of the Republic of Tajikistan the Constitution was adopted through a mass voting on November 6th, 1994, which consists of 10 chapters and 100 articles.
One of the main conditions for the independence of each state is its recognition by the world community. At the present stage, the state independence of the Republic of Tajikistan has been officially recognized by more than 190 countries of the world and diplomatic relations have been established. The Republic of Tajikistan participates in the activities of the CIS, the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and a number of other organizations, which is a priority area of our policy.
Over the years of independence, Tajikistan has won its own position in the international arena. At the initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon at the UN General Assembly resolution of the International Year of Clean Water (2003), International Decade for Action “Water for Life”, 2005-2015, International Year of Cooperation in the field water (2013) and the International Decade “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, is a fact of recognition of the position of the republic in the international community.
During the period of independence, the implementation of the program of economic transformations, the restoration and launch of industrial enterprises, the introduction of advanced technologies, an increase in the efficiency of the Agro-industrial complex and the organization of new jobs are the most important factor in improving the standard of living, social protection of the population and reducing poverty.
During the period of independence of the country, the monetary income of the population increased 125 times, and the poverty level in the republic decreased from 83% in 1999 to 26.3%, the average life expectancy increased from 70 years in 1991 to 75 years.
Compared to 1991, maternal mortality decreased 3.1 times, infant mortality – 3.5 times.
From the very beginning of gaining independence, we began to form the foundations of the country’s foreign policy and thanks to the adoption of effective measures, we strengthened and strengthened the status and place of Tajikistan in the international arena.
30 years of state independence is an important milestone, marking the revival of Tajik statehood and the acquisition of freedom, the dreams of which were cherished by many generations of our ancestors. By the standards of history, 30 years have been just an instant. However, for many peoples this period included an entire era filled with difficulties and victories, crises and achievements.
